Should you be unable to find what you like on the website or are not sure what you want we provide a very successful free comprehensive search for you, including full advice, on all pieces that could be available to you. We simply do the searching for you through the host of colleagues in the UK, Europe and Iran available to us. We would supply up to six photos at a time for you to view and decide upon . We can continue the search until you see something suitable. The pieces you have narrowed down can then be sent to the Gallery.

Restoration, Repair And Cleaning Services
The gallery offers complete restoration, repair and cleaning services of an extremely high standard as well as valuations for insurance purposes.
Restoration and repairs include tying off and repairing ends of rugs to prevent lossing knots. Also selvidge or side chord repair. Large holes and tears can also be repaired very successfully -see images below.
Cleaning, stain and dye run removal available.

Who We Are
Gallery Persia has a superb selection of antique and contemporary Rugs, Carpets and Runners, with regular new additions. The beauty of oriental rugs and, in particular, persian rugs has long fascinated mankind.
Based in the city of Inverness, Scotland, UK Gordon MacDonald of Gallery Persia, specializes in old and antique Eastern tribal and village rugs, decorative carpets, kilims and tribal bags from the rug weaving and kilim weaving areas of Persia (Iran), Afghanistan, Anatolia (Turkey) and the Turkmenistan regions (Central Asia). He also has a good stock of contemporary rugs and carpets.
All the items in the on-line catalogue are individual and unique. Gallery Persia will happily conduct an extended search on your behalf if you have any specific requirements wherever you live in the world !
We also offer a restoration, repair, cleaning, valuation and postal service (including abroad).
Gallery Persia is happy to assist with home visits and advice throughout Scotland and in particular, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Elgin, Perth, Dundee, Stirling and Glasgow. Due to our extensive network we can also offer this service to many areas of England.
Due to our many loyal contacts in Iran, you can now commission your own personal hand made rug or carpet specific to your requirements using high quality wools and natural dyes. We can 'book' a loom for you and help with design. The weavers are some of the best and highly respected for their work.

Our History
The Story of The Gallery
Gordon MacDonald's interest in this field originated in the 1970's. His great friend Brian MacDonald, who had spent several years in Iran (Persia), introduced him to old and antique tribal and village rugs and trappings.
Gordon had recently left university in Edinburgh where he studied mathematics and the geometric, stylised designs of tribal rugs were of great interest to him at this time. Since then, he has continued to build on his interest and knowledge of antique rugs and carpets.
Gordon began as a private collector. In 1989 he established Gallery Persia, specialising in old and antique rugs and carpets from Persia (Iran), Afghanistan, Caucasus, Central Asia and Anatolia (Turkey). He has also introduced to his gallery contemporary rugs of a very high quality and design. Gordon offers a restoration and cleaning service along with a carpet search system.
Gallery Persia is situated in the spacious grounds of his home to the south-east of Inverness, capital of the Highlands. Located between the city and Culloden Battlefield, Gallery Persia enjoys fine views over the Moray, Inverness and Beauly Firths surrounded by the mountains of the Highlands. Gordon hopes you enjoy the view of the header image looking from the Gallery Persia site towards Inverness at night.
